Registered Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy

Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) in British Columbia are health care professionals committed to restoring and maintaining optimal health for their patients. RMTs undergo extensive training in the treatment and prevention of injury, pain, and physical disorders through the manual manipulation of soft tissue structures of the body. They are educated to assess and treat using a variety of techniques such as deep tissue massage, fascial and trigger point release, passive stretching, joint mobilizations, hydrotherapy, rehabilitative exercise, and patient education.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle massage technique using slow, repetitive, pumping movements to aid in the transportation of lymphatic fluid from swollen or congested areas where there may be an impairment to normal lymphatic flow due to injury, surgery, or other deficiency of the lymph vessel system.  “If the pathways become congested, blocked, damaged, or severed, then fluids can build up in the connective tissue leading to edema and fibrosis.  The lymph vessel system must transport the damaged cells, inflammatory products, and toxins away from the area.”  MLD can help with circulation, inflammatory conditions, injury (sprains, strains, hematomas), pre-and post surgical procedures, general immune health, and more.

Massage therapy can help with a variety conditions including:
